Timber Homestead is an educational platform for homesteaders and builders. We respect your privacy and collect only the information necessary to deliver our courses, guides, and community tools.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: Name, email, and password when you create a member account.
- Purchase information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe — we never store card numbers.
- Oracle sessions: Questions submitted to the Timber Oracle to improve response quality (anonymized).
- Land Desk submissions: Location and project details you submit for land assessment guidance.
- Usage data: Anonymized analytics on how members use the platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To deliver course content, guides, and building plans you have purchased.
- To provide access to the Timber Oracle and Land Desk tools.
- To send course updates, new content notifications, and community news.
- To improve our educational content and Oracle accuracy.
- To process billing and manage your membership.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with:
- Stripe — for secure payment processing.
- Service providers supporting platform operations, under confidentiality agreements.
- Legal authorities when required by law.
4. Oracle Session Data
Questions submitted to the Timber Oracle may be reviewed in anonymized form to improve response accuracy and expand our heritage methods library. No personally identifiable information is attached to Oracle session reviews.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secured servers in Canada. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Member passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We retain your data for the duration of your membership plus 7 years for legal compliance.
6. Your Rights (PIPEDA & BC PIPA)
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request corrections to inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent for non-essential communications.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
